Back from Hawaii

Aloha!

We're back on the mainland and happy to share some wonderful stories and photos from our time in Honolulu and to announce the winners of the Reboot the Commute Hackathon hosted by Energy Excelerator, HTDC, and Vinli at ProtoHUB.

A big part of our mission at Vinli is growing the ecosystem of developers and entrepreneurs innovating in the mobility space. While Vinli wasn't focus for all submissions, plenty of sweet use cases materialized as a result of dialog. We can't wait to see how the community evolves in the coming year.

Without further ado, here are the winners by category of Reboot The Commute:
Data in Transportation (best solution using/gathering data, e.g. crowdsource reporting, data visualization): Real Time Traffic Signs

Efficiency (best tools for making transportation more efficient, e.g., parking, maps, notifications): Park Carma

Alternate Modes of Travel (best solution for advancing alternate modes of travel, e.g. bike, rail, bus, rideshare): Bike Share Implementation

A promising story that came from our youngest participant, a 15-years-young man, Liam Clive. He and his team, Trippy, received an honorable mention for their innovative approach to "slugging." In addition to being awarded tickets to Startup Paradise Demo Day, Liam was featured on local Honolulu TV news. Congrats Liam! Follow Liam on twitter.

Mahalo to everyone who made this event possible and thanks to Jonas Vibell, Dawn Lippert and the team at Energy Excelerator for graciously hosting us!

Until next time, keep we'll be livin' aloha.
